Our Week

On Friday, Addyson Graduated from preschool. She's officially a kindergartner now. (How did she get so big so fast?) We went to her school for the ceremony and some fun and games. We were asked to bring a healthy snack to share, but I saw these little caps and couldn't resist. How stinkin' cute are they!?! Addyson informed me about 10 minutes before we left that chocolate wasn't healthy so I needed to cut some fruit to take also. Darn kid anyways, who taught her what is healthy and what isn't? She was so happy to have her daddy there, especially since no one else did. Her teacher wrote on her report card that she is such a bright little girl and such a sweetheart, and I couldn't agree more.

Janae's class has been trying to earn a reward party since the beginning of the year. They finally did it, with only two weeks left in the year. They chose to have crazy hair day to go along with the movie and root beers floats they earned. The kids in class told Janae that her hair wasn't really crazy, and that made her feel bad. I had to explain that because her hair is always done, this is as crazy as we could make it. She wanted hers ratted like some of the other girls, until I told her how much it was going to hurt to comb it out.

I was able to go on a field trip with the second graders on Thursday. We walked from the school to the Game and Fish office for a couple of presentations. It was a long 2 1/2 miles with some of the kids. I had the privilege of being in back to prod the dawdlers along.

The Girls walked their first 5k race

Marlene and the girls walked the 1st annual Keith L. Young Memorial 5k race today.

The girls did great finishing 99th, 100th and 101st overall (unofficial results) with times of 1:01:37 for Addyson and Marlene and 1:02:03 for Janae.

Good Job Girls!!!

They gave away a lot of door prizes, Marlene won a $12 gift card for Mama's pizza and Janae won a cheerleader uniform. She is a bit excited about that if you can imagine.

This race was held in memory of Keith Young who passed away from a heart arrhythmia last year (2008) on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend while training for a marathon relay. His goal in life was to serve others and make them happy, whether it was shoveling the neighbor’s walk, stepping in to do another’s job at work, or cooking dutch oven so that others could enjoy a fabulous meal.

“When running up hill pick up your knees; when running into the wind put your head down; when running down hill coast and make up ground;, when you don’t think that you can run any farther, hold on to my shirt and I’ll pull you along.” -- Keith Young

Spring Tavaci Concert

The girls had their Tavaci concert last night. As always, they were the cutest ones on stage. Scott even got to have a turn on stage. He and Janae had a special father/daughter number. They all did great and we are done with Tavaci for the summer, yeah!!!!

Gardener for Hire

Addyson and I were out spreading mulch in the flower gardens earlier today. A neighbor walked by and told her that she was doing a great job. Then he asked if she was for hire, to which Addyson replied "Yeah, for 5 million!!" Five million what, I'm not sure, but apparently he thought her asking salary was to steep since he went merrily on his way.

Jiggly Belly

I was taking a bath last night and Addyson decided to hop in with me. After splashing and playing for a while, she decided to come lay on the bath pillow with me. She started playing with my belly. Our conversation went like this:

Addyson- Mom?
Me- Yeah?
Addyson- Umm, your belly reminds me of Kate's belly in Jon and Kate before she got it fixed.
Me- Really?
Addyson- Yeah, it has lots of lines in it and it is really jiggly. (she's making it jiggle the whole time) But, I still don't think you have a big butt!
Me- Thanks so much.

What would I do without her sweet little outlook?

Janae's First "Orkadontist" Visit

Friday morning we took Janae to the orthodontist for a consultation. She's only lost four teeth so far, but the new ones coming in don't have room and are coming in crooked. We thought it would be better to be proactive and get started now instead of waiting until she's 24 like I did. The doc wants to wait until she gets her 6 year molars in before he does anything. Yeah, she's 7 1/2 and still waiting to get her 6 year teeth in. She marches to her own drum in every aspect of life and getting teeth in no exception. She didn't get her first one until she was 1. We have another appointment in 6 months to have her seen again and then the doc will decide then what he wants to do. It's not a matter of if, but when, she will get braces. For now, she is very excited about them. Ask her when she'd had them on for a few weeks how excited she is. My bet is they won't be no where near the fun she is expecting.

Addyson went with us and was telling us later about the "orkadontist". She is so stinkin' cute!

Wishing We Could Go

If we were still living in Maine, we'd be making plans to head to the Aldermere Farm on Saturday for the calf unveiling day. We went a couple of years with the girls and they loved it. Who wouldn't enjoy seeing some Oreo cows (aka belted galloway)?
