Ft. Bridger Field Trip

I was also able to go to Ft. Bridger with Janae's class. We had an awesome tour guide who walked us through the museum and explained everything to us. She even took us into some of the building that are locked to others. We saw what the general store looked like, the jail with the elevated beds to keep the guards from sleeping, the solitary confinement cells, the school, the barracks and the homes still on the site. We were able to shop at the trading post and the general store.

Mountain Man Rendezvous in Pinedale

I was able to go to the Mountain Man Rendezvous in Pinedale with the fourth graders. There were stations set up for us to learn about what life was like for mountain men. We learned about where they lived, the clothes they had, their bedding, how to make fire without a match, the food they hunted and ate, how to trap animals and stretch furs and metal working. After eating lunch, in the snow, we toured the museum and shopped at the store.

Rock Springs Airport Flight Camp

The Rock Springs Airport had a kids flight camp that the girls were lucky enough to attend, as tickets were limited. Those older than 8 were able to go on a short flight with a volunteer pilot. These pilots donated their time, planes and fuel for the kids. What an amazing thing for the kids to get to do! Janae got to go, but Addyson didn't.

The day started at 7:00 am with a breakfast, then the flights for those able to go and then a camp for all the kids. At each stations, they learned about all aspects of the airport, including life-flight, touring a small plane, the airport fire station, a flight simulator.

Addyson concentrating hard while at the simulator station.

If they have another camp, count us in!
