Spring is in the air!

It has been an extremely long winter.  Spring can't get here fast enough.  Although it's hard to see, there are flowers coming up behind Janae.  Spring is on it's way, I have proof.  Janae thought that it would be a good idea to pose in front of the flowers in her new spring outfit. Isn't she cute!  Notice that Addyson is not in the picture too?  She is stubborn and refused to cooperate with me, so her picture didn't get taken.

Carson and Garrett came over for awhile today to play.  Anyone who has been around us knows that Carson and Addyson fight terrible every time they are together.  They played for over 3 hours with no fighting!!  It must be some kind of miracle, or maybe they are growing up.  Either way, it was an enjoyable time for the cousins, not to mention me.

Jimmy!!

The girls got to play, or in Addyson's case, maul, their cousin Jimmy this weekend.  His parents had conference to go to and to make along story short, Grandma could not watch him because of other things, so we got him.  I must admit I was not thrilled about a one year old being here.  But he is a great kid and easy to take care of.  He entertained himself, listened well and slept about 12 hours each night.  I wonder if my 4 and 6 year olds can take lessons from him!!  I am sure that he is enjoying the peace and quiet of his own home today.  Come back soon Jimmy!

Curious George

A few weeks ago, Curious George came to Green River. Addyson was so excited! George had a friend that read a few books and then she got to go met George. She was the first one in line to get a hug. She got a banana and a bookmark, which made her day.

I have been thinking lately about what I would buy, for myself, if I could buy whatever I wanted. Here is a small list of my wants: Kitchenaid Proline Belgian waffle maker

(I just noticed that most items have to do with food. Wonder what that means????)

Scott is probably thinking, "Yeah right, dream on". As I said, this is a wish list, at least for now.

Our smart girl!!

Janae is doing extremely well in school, but then we knew she would. Her last report card had great grades on it. Her school uses the 1-4 marks for grading. She earned three 4's! We are so proud of her. She gets perfect scores on her spelling tests most of the time, usually even without us helping her. We gave her a Strawberry Shortcake cookbook as a reward for her good report card. She was so excited! It has some cute recipes that are kid friendly. When Scott was in Austin a few weeks ago, she and I planned a menu for the night he got home from the cookbook. Was she ever thrilled! We feel blessed to have such a smart kid.

Last night I went to the church to donate blood for someones Eagle project. I was doing my good deed for the week. My bag was almost full when the needle popped out, so my blood is no longer able to be used because it was air contaminated. I was not happy about that. I am afraid of needles and blood makes me sick, so donating is a big deal to me. To be told that my blood can't be used for transfusions was not a good thing. They assured me that it will still be used for research and testing though. Great, not a total waste after all.

When I got home the girls were fascinsated with the whole in my arm. Addsyon wanted to know who was going to get my blood, how they were going to get it, etc. Then she asked how blood gets in my body. Here is her explaination:

There is a little skeleton inside my body with a tiny machine and a bowl of water. The skeleton has red food coloring that he squirts into the water. Then the skeleton squeezes the mixture into my arm in two spots to make me have blood.

Quite the imagination!! To watch her explain this in detail was priceless! Just another reason I love the kid so much!

My sweet girl

Addyson is so sweet lately. She will tell me out of the blue that she loves me and loves to kiss me. She told me tonight as we were watching tv on my bed that she "can't stop kissing and hugging me because I'm am so cute and she likes the way I smell and she likes the way I look." It does wonders for me to hear stuff like that!! I love being a mom most days because of her cute little spirit.

So, tell me if I am the only person out there that does this. It doesn't matter if Scott is at work or out of town, I find myself being lazy while he is gone. Most days, I find myself rushing around at 4:30 picking things us, doing dishes, folding laundry, whatever needs done that has been neglected throughout the day. I can't seem to make myself do it during the day. I have always been one to procrastinate, I seem to do better under pressure. It's even worse when he is out of town! I then have several days of being lazy where things need attention. Scott has been gone since Sunday morning and I have been "planning" on cleaning house, the storage room, etc. since then and now it is the night before he comes home. Guess what I have done so far? Absolutely nothing!!!! Oh well, he knows after 10 years that I am not an immaculate housekeeper, he'll be happy to see us anyway.

And another one bites the dust....

Janae lost her second tooth Sunday morning. She came into my room and told me that while she was going potty, her tooth just fell out. Scott left early that morning for Austin and I had told her the night before that it would be gone before he got back. She was so surprised that it fell out that soon. The tooth fairy came again and left another $2 bill. She must have a stock pile of them, or maybe she needs to start collecting them.
