My Latest Creation
Janae offered to have me make her teacher a birthday treat to share with the class. Mrs. Jones's birthday isn't until June, so they celebrated her un-birthday last week. When asked what she wanted me to make, she told Janae lasagna. Janae then told her that it had to be something sweet. She left it up to us to decide what to make. Janae chose a cake, decorated with fondant. Not too shabby looking considering I worked all week and was up until midnight making the blasted thing.
Young Author's Tea

The girls both won 2nd place in the district for their Young Author stories and where invited to a tea to be recognized for their achievement. They had to introduce themselves, telling who their teacher was, what school they went to, what grade they were in and what they story was titled. Janae was scared to go up, but did great when it was her turn. Both were excited with their trophies.

1st Place Winner, Take 2!
Abby and Megan found a picnic spot with lots of little cookies laying on the blanket. The blanket was next to a palm tree. The girls decided to share the cookies with the whole class.
Alex and Addyson found a boy laying under an umbrella. His name was Bridger. Bridger was getting ready to play in the water with his sister.
Sofia and Ivan saw a baby crab crawling across the sand. The little green crab was crawling towards a giant sandcastle.
The whole class saw a carnival on an island. They rode on a hot pink ship across the water to the carnival. Everyone wanted to go to the face painting booth. After everyone was done there, they got back on the ship to go back to the beach.
When they got off the ship, Mrs. Cordova found lots of seashells in the sand. Some of the shells still had periwinkles alive in them!
The class saw lots of people playing in the water, building sand castles and digging holes in the sand. When it was time to go home, the class was sad because they wanted to stay and play.
1st Place Winner!
Fisherella Once upon a time in the Pacific Ocean, there was a happy family. The members of the family were Bob, the dad, Mary, the mom and Fisherella, an only child. Her parents called her Fishy because she was such a little fish. One day Fishy`s mom got eaten up by a great big tiger shark. Her dad remarried about a year later. Her step mom, Swimmy and her two daughters, Addyson and Janae, were really, really mean to Fishy. Fisherella's dad wasn't home very much because he worked far away cleaning the coral reef at the other end of the ocean. When Bob was home, his wife and her daughters pretended to be nice to Fishy. When he left again, they were horrible to her. Some of Fisherella's responsibilities included cleaning the kelp from around the house, raking their sand gardens, finding food for the family, collecting shells for her sisters jewelry, sewing clothes for her step sisters and making their beds in oyster shells every morning. "Mom, doesn't Fishy need to clean our scales?" asked Janae. Fishy's step mom said, "Yes, she does." Then the doorbell rang. It was King of all Mermaids, King Triton. He brought with him an invitation to a fishy ball. "When is it, when is it?" asked Addyson. "It is on September 25, 2010," said King Triton. "My birthday!" shouted Janae. "Mother, did you hear that the ball is on my birthday? Can you believe it? What skirt should I wear?" asked Janae. Quietly Fishy asked, "Can I come too?" "NOT UNLESS YOU MAKE ME A PRETTY DRESS!" screamed her step mom. "I'll finish it as fast as I can," said Fishy. Fishy asked her step mom, Swimmy, about what she wanted her dress to look like. Swimmy replied, "It needs to be hot pink, with turquoise thread and have big Hawaiian flower on the left shoulder. There also needs to be a zipper in the back." Fishy got right to work on the dress. She had the perfect material that she had found in a treasure chest from a wrecked ship. For a needle, she used a catfish whisker that she had found near her house when she was raking the sand garden. For the big flower, she swam to the top of the ocean in search of just the right flower. After she finished making the dress, Fishy took it to her step mom. When Swimmy saw it, her jaw dropped because it was so beautiful. It was finally time for Fishy to get ready too. Fishy's dress was one that her dad had given her from one of his trips to China. It was a bright emerald green with white flowers down the front and on the sleeves. Her step mom and step sisters had left without her, so she swam to the ball on her own. When she arrived there, King Tritan's son, the prince, was stunned by how beautiful Fishy was. They danced and swam all night long. The other people at the ball no idea who the beautiful fish was. When the ball was almost over, Fisherella had to hurry home before her family figured out that it was her. On her way home, she got caught in a bunch of seaweed and lost her shiniest scale. "OH NO I CAN`T BELIEVE IT!" yelled Fishy. She couldn't take time to find her scale because the prince was on her tail. Fishy made it home before her family, but the prince followed her. When her step mom and sisters got home, she had already packed her bags and was ready to leave with the prince. She never found her scale. But her and the prince lived happily ever after.
