Jack and Joe, our horses
Janae's Girl Scout leader is very ambitious and decided that an overnight trip to her cabin and then to the Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole with the junior troop would be a great thing. I offered to go as a driver and took my girls and 2 others. We left Friday afternoon and drove to LaBarge to a little diner for dinner. The diner was originally in New York, but the owners brought it to Wyoming. Definitely worth stopping if you are ever in the area. After filling our bellies, we headed to Daniel, to Leslie's cabin. She advised 4 wheel drive vehicles, but told me that her husband would plow the road to the cabin, so I should be fine in my car. We were going along just fine until about 200 yards from the cabin when we got stuck. After a long 45 minute ordeal to pull us out, we finally arrived at the cabin, just in time for bed. I had decided to take my car back to the main road after unloading, to eliminate the chances of being stuck in the morning. Good thing I planned ahead because the drifts were huge the next morning! Too bad that the wind had drifted the snow by my car, that was parked on flat dry ground! After having to be pulled out again, we were finally on our way. (I'm not invited back again during the winter without 4 wheel drive).
After taking the sleigh ride out on the refuge, we headed back in to Jackson for lunch and shopping. I'm pretty sure the candy store was the highlight of the trip for my girls.
